Work and Play ~ An Introduction

Work and Play

Some of us spend 40 hours a week (or more) at work.  Others work part-time while going to school full-time.  Others yet work abbreviated days so we can be home in time to see our children get off the school bus and tell us about the amazing events of their day.

And then we try to squeeze as much play time into whatever is left.  For some, that’s getting in the sleep you couldn’t get all week long.  For others, it’s reading a book, or hanging out with friends, or going for a run, or hitting the gym … the list goes on.

So when exactly do we make time for Allah?  Are we really only giving Him what’s leftover from our “busy” day or week?  For many, the reality of day to day life amounts to work, home, play and then deen.  I’m here to challenge this paradigm, and say it doesn’t have to be this way!

By incorporating Allah and Islam in everything we do — including work and play — we will find more barakah in our time, more ways to actively remember Allah.  My intention is to look at different aspects of how we work and how we play, and look at these aspects in a different light, and maybe, just maybe, help us all to make Allah and Islam much more relevant in our daily lives.

So stay tuned, and give me lots of feedback, so we can work and play, together!

    As Salaam Alaykum,

Simply if we make our intentions to please Allah swt, then we could incorporate our deen in everything we do. When you do the dishes for your mother, sister, husband, wife, don’t do it because they have to get done, but do them out of your love for them for the sake of Allah. Do it while your seeking the reward from Allah, and Allah will reward you. And as your doing these tasks, you could always be remembering Allah by saying dhikr, by reviewing your Qur’an, by thinking of ways of how you could benefit yourself and the community more.

The list for how one could incorporate Allah swt in everything they do, could go on and on….but I shall stop here and let others share in the reward by saying how they could incorporate Allah swt in everything they do. :)

    Was salaam alaykum
