Bismillah walhumdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaamu ‘ala Rasoolillah
Alhumdulillah, last weekend we were blessed with the opportunity to study with Shaykh Waleed Basyouni for the first half of Darkness to Light: Doctrines of Faith IV — and what a ride it was. Shaykh Waleed’s extensive knowledge and insight into the subject, plus the details and strategies on practical implementation of this knowledge, was an eye-opening lesson. Everyone is psyched for when Shaykh Yasir Qadhi comes for weekend 2!
We will be compiling reflections from students on the seminar. If you have one to add, please email Administration@durbah.org. You can even keep it anonymous if you like.
This is the first part in this series. To see the other parts, click below:
Reflections From “Darkness to Light” (Part 2)
So here we go… read the submissions after the break, and prepare to reminisce and reflect ![]()
From Sr. Anonymous:
BAM! It came to me… the lightness flashed in my face as bright as it can be- guidance- this is what I found after living in darkness and confusion all my life. Aqeedah 4: “Darkness to Light” is a class that opened my eyes as wide as ever, and shook me from head to toe. I had mixed emotions while taking this class. Crying, every time the Shaykh mentions biddah… not being able to look up at all, and having warm tears running down my face and wetting my hijab. Smiling, every time I realized Allah swt has blessed me to see the clear truth, and realizing as long as I am breathing I have a chance. A chance to change myself for the better and implement what I learned, and a chance to give dawah to others to the best of my ability.
I can (not) emphasize enough how important this class is for every Muslim. Sometimes we think we are okay and we are on the right path, but then you realize you might have been or are doing “worships” that have no basis in our religion, and this is scary… We want the reward from Allah swt, and therefore we should make sure we are doing what Allah swt wants us to do and this can be known by following the sunnah of our beloved Rasool Allah (saws). “O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the messenger (Muhammad saws)” (Al-Nisa:59) In this class, one will learn about the Sahabas, Khalifas, and the early generations of Muslims, and this will lift your spirits up! Furthermore, learning about their methodologies and the way they dealt with one another, gives us wonderful examples and role models to look up to. I am eagerly waiting for the Second Weekend InshAllah.
I end with this Quranic verse: “The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allah (His words, the Qur’an) and His Messenger (saws), to judge between them, is that they say: ‘We hear and we obey,’ and such are the prosperous ones (who will live forever in Paradise).” (Al-Noor:51). I can now firmly say: “Ya Allah- I hear and I obey!”
MashaAllah – such profound statements and lessons to take away. Will you be next to write up your thoughts, the next one to Share the Khayr? Email Administration@durbah.org now and submit your reflections!
