Shaykh Kamal Gets a Brownie Surprise from Durbah!

Shahadah: Fiqh of Da’wah with Shaykh Kamal El-Mekki!

asSalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

We have been patiently waiting for this seminar for a very long time – not to mention, waiting for Shaykh Kamal to finally join AlMaghrib!

Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef taught the original seminar in June of 2003, in the basement of MCMC – a landmark seminar which kicked off AlMaghrib in NJ. Since then, the majority of students have heard of that amazing experience, and longed to also learn the material themselves, in order to become more capable du’aat in their communities, inviting to the right way.

And now, 8 years later, here is everyone’s chance :) The seminar will be held on June 3-5/11-12 (double-weekend) in NJIT, Newark, NJ.

For more information about the seminar and to enroll, please go here: http://www.almaghrib.org/newjersey

We can never get enough of Shaykh Kamal’s lectures — here’s one for you, filmed in Australia, entitled: “Giving Da’wah in The West”. View below and enjoy! :)

The Liwaa Vote – Vote for Durbah NOW!

Bismillah walhumdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaamu ‘ala Rasoolillah

The Liwaa vote is open once again – Get over there and vote for Durbah!

Voting page: Click here

Directions: Look at the first comments by Shaykh Muhammad.  He listed all the Qabaa’il, and the last one is Durbah.  Find the comment and press the “LIKE” button on the comment which says “‎************ Durbah; New Jersey”.

The volunteers of Durbah have worked extremely hard to maintain our Liwaa status.  Through 2009 and 2010, their work has been exceptional and done with ihsaan.  Durbah deserves to be the champion once more!

Jazakumullahu Khairan :)

The Last Breath: Good and Bad Endings

Shaykh Waleed Abdulhakeem has made this video describing Good and Bad Endings – one of the topics from the seminar.

Enjoy :)

Reflections From “Darkness to Light” (Part 1)

Bismillah walhumdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaamu ‘ala Rasoolillah

Alhumdulillah, last weekend we were blessed with the opportunity to study with Shaykh Waleed Basyouni for the first half of Darkness to Light: Doctrines of Faith IV — and what a ride it was. Shaykh Waleed’s extensive knowledge and insight into the subject, plus the details and strategies on practical implementation of this knowledge, was an eye-opening lesson. Everyone is psyched for when Shaykh Yasir Qadhi comes for weekend 2!

We will be compiling reflections from students on the seminar. If you have one to add, please email Administration@durbah.org. You can even keep it anonymous if you like.

This is the first part in this series.  To see the other parts, click below:
Reflections From “Darkness to Light” (Part 2)

So here we go… read the submissions after the break, and prepare to reminisce and reflect :)

While one man had an epiphany and saw the very meaning of life itself in this simple scene, we ask ourselves: As Muslims, what does it mean to achieve pure hearts and minds?
