Shahadah: Fiqh of Da’wah with Shaykh Kamal El-Mekki!

asSalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

We have been patiently waiting for this seminar for a very long time – not to mention, waiting for Shaykh Kamal to finally join AlMaghrib!

Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef taught the original seminar in June of 2003, in the basement of MCMC – a landmark seminar which kicked off AlMaghrib in NJ. Since then, the majority of students have heard of that amazing experience, and longed to also learn the material themselves, in order to become more capable du’aat in their communities, inviting to the right way.

And now, 8 years later, here is everyone’s chance :) The seminar will be held on June 3-5/11-12 (double-weekend) in NJIT, Newark, NJ.

For more information about the seminar and to enroll, please go here: http://www.almaghrib.org/newjersey

We can never get enough of Shaykh Kamal’s lectures — here’s one for you, filmed in Australia, entitled: “Giving Da’wah in The West”. View below and enjoy! :)

Reflections From “Darkness to Light” (Part 1)

Bismillah walhumdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaamu ‘ala Rasoolillah

Alhumdulillah, last weekend we were blessed with the opportunity to study with Shaykh Waleed Basyouni for the first half of Darkness to Light: Doctrines of Faith IV — and what a ride it was. Shaykh Waleed’s extensive knowledge and insight into the subject, plus the details and strategies on practical implementation of this knowledge, was an eye-opening lesson. Everyone is psyched for when Shaykh Yasir Qadhi comes for weekend 2!

We will be compiling reflections from students on the seminar. If you have one to add, please email Administration@durbah.org. You can even keep it anonymous if you like.

This is the first part in this series.  To see the other parts, click below:

Darkness to Light: Last Chance for Discounted Price!

Bismillah walhumdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaamu ‘ala Rasoolillah

Information for Darkness to Light

As we gear up for a brand new groundbreaking seminar – taught for the very first time right here in New Jersey – we just wanted to remind everyone that the discount time is almost over, for both Power of 10 and regular payments.

For Power of 10 groups, the deadline is Wednesday 9/22 – just two days away! What is Power of 10 you may ask? It is simply a system where 10 people get together and pay a grand total of $1350 at once; that’s $30 savings per person! Just get 9 people on board besides yourself, have them all register for the seminar, and submit payment on this page. Having trouble finding 9 others? Try visiting our forum and reaching out to others.

For the regular online payments, the discounted price of $165 ends on Thursday night – starting Friday 9/24, the price will be $175, both online and onsite. Don’t wait until the last day to pay!

By the way, I’ve been talking to Shaykh Waleed and Shaykh Yasir about the seminar and its material – and I think I’m more excited than I have ever been for any seminar! I really hope every single person can take this, because not only is this material necessary, it’s extremely relevant to us and eye-opening in so many ways.

So don’t wait until the last minute – get organized, and ENROLL NOW!

Hope to see you all there Insha’Allah :) Remember, come early on FREE Friday (9/24) at 7:00pm. We will pray Maghrib salah and begin entering all students and guests, and there may not be many seats left. The seminar will begin promptly at 7:30pm Insha’Allah.

‘Umar ibn ‘Abdil ‘Azeez: Reviver of the Sunnah

As we have been traveling through the history of our nation, we have read the biographies of the great men of the past, present, and the future.

Among them was a man of the Tabi‘een (followers of the companions), whose zuhd (asceticism) was incomparable.  He did not make a name in history as a king, but as an abstinent and just Khaleefah, whose throne was made of jute mat.  He put away the darkness of tyranny with the light of justice.  He never even dreamt that history will recall his life.  He was a great scholar and a politician, who was like a solid mountain whom the generations take the meanings of justice, honor, and sincerity from.  He was one ‘Umar from another ‘Umar: a lion amongst men, the great grandson of ‘Umar, the Lion of the Sahaba.

He is the Ameer of the Believers, the Mujtahid Imaam, the Fifth Just Khaleefah and the Mujaddid (reviver) of the first one hundred Hijri years;  ‘Umar, the son of ‘Abdul ‘Azeez the son of Marwaan the son of Al-Hakam the son of ‘Aas the son of ‘Abdul Shams.

He was born in Madinah, 60 years after the migration of the Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, during the rule of Khaleefah Yazeed ibn Mu’awiyah.  His mother was Layla bint ‘Aasim ibn ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, and his father was ‘Abdul ‘Azeez, son of a Khaleefah, and a prince.
